It has already been confirmed that Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and other top tennis players in the world will hold a tournament with the purpose of raising money to help aid the victims of devastating floods in Australia.

The flashfloods have destroyed the key cities of Australia including Brisbane as well as the northern Queensland state. The area affected by the floods may be as vast as the combined area of Germany and France that resulted to the confirmed deaths of 18 people while there are more people missing during the peak of the floods.

According to the economists, it will take A$6 billion or more to rebuild what the floods have destroyed. The estimation will even increase as the calamity damages continue. Thus, the government of Australia needs help from other countries as well as other personalities who have influence to help raise money.

As for Federer, he was moved by the devastation that natural calamity has brought to Australia. The tournament that they will do is just the least they can do to help the victims who will continue to suffer due to loss of properties even when the floods are over.

With wet season far from its end and dams at their bursting points, the officials of each city warn the people that there will be more flashfloods to happen the following days and weeks. There will be more casualties as the flood continues.

Together with Federer and Nadal; Sam Stosur, Lleyton Hewitt, Kim Clijsters (Belgium) and Novak Djokovic (Serbia) will also take part in the charity matches at Rod Laver Arena.

The former world number one tennis player Hewitt said that if tennis in Australia and international would be a great help in helping the victims of the flood, then he and the other top-rated players would be happy to hold tournaments.

Previously, these players and many other held tournaments for Haiti earthquake victims and raised around $185,000 which helped a lot of people and sustain their needs for food. For Australian people, especially the ones from Brisbane or northern Queensland state, they need help in rebuilding their homes and communities as there are people and families who have nothing left.

With them reaching out the people to share little amount for the victims, it is not impossible to raise millions of dollars to help the aid of the victims. On the other hand, the Australian Government said that it could take many months, or even years, to bring back Brisbane the way it was before the flash floods.
